Political activist and
part time Rom (Ray) Barbie Mr Richard Wager has put on hold his latest
revolution plans to get a new picture and Video page (link on the left*)
sorted for all those wanting to download the vids in hi-res to there

The Death Skateboards showing of "Better than Life"
rolled into Rom Town this week with a premiere of the new Rom Town
Chronicles Trailer to get the viewing pleasure started. A good day and night
was had by all who braved the cold of late November. Here is some footage of
what went down in the ramp room after it had been converted back to its
usual state after being a make shift cinema for the night.
The Death Premiere at the Trinity in
Harrow went off with its usual carnage! Broken Glass and bleeding feet, and I
think that was even before the bands came on. Death has excelled themselves
with this film. Its starts off with Horsey with a very strong section with
the usual special effects and humour we have come to expect from these films
applied by Mark Nicholson. Richie Jackson, Carl Wilson (full section),
Zarosh, Dave Allen & Andy Scott have absolutely banging sections that make
this a very very strong video. It’s real skateboarding at its best. It is
completed with the final section going to Patrick Melcher that will inspire
you. Better than life. I would say so.
Liverpool the destination to skate for free in an art gallery.
Simparch Drum and Basin is on until
April 08 so get involved. Enjoy……..
We then went onto
Rampworx for a late session before
checking into a Travelodge to drop off our bags and get a curry with plenty
of beer & medals from our friends at the Cashmere. Saturday started with a
trip to the works which didn’t start well as the pool had been painted for
the war of the roses the next day. It was dry to touch but they wouldn’t let
us skate it. I guess it was worth it for the likes of Potter and Div and we
wouldn't of ended up where we did if they hadn't. I have some unfinished
business there but that’s for another day. Once I had calmed down and
apologized to Ray for chucking my stick at the kitchen cupboards. We got on
line and found
Adrenaline Alley Skate Park in
Corby. It’s worth a visit although take your lid as its compulsory so bring
your beer helmet. Oh and by the way the title diversion excursion. I think
this weekend the highways agency had a competition as to who could put out
the most diversion signs!….enjoy!

A midweek trip to Cantelowes my first
and it doesn't disappoint especially when the likes of Horsey, Seth Curtis,
Zarosh and ripper Arron Sweeney are making the most of the dry October
weather. Mr Fox and Nigel Davies liked the crete although Nige will be back
to do damage when his heel gets fixed he was skating on the Ibuprofen extra
strength but that heel needs a few days off the shred stick to get sorted.
Run outs on a bad foot are just not good. The day was finished off with a
late session at the Rom Wednesday Night's can be a riot!
At the weekend it was warm and Sunny
and we got the feeling that just maybe it would be an Indian summer. Well
that thought didn't last long after today. The weather has dropped like
badly set coping. The short night's are upon us soon and the shade in the
bowls at Saffron Walden will chase us through the day. So it will be
Paul's lights and generator to the rescue and back to the dry safe haven of
the indoor mini ramp at Rom. As we move towards winter here is a short video
shot over the last couple of weeks featuring skaters from the
Monkeyglove family.
The annual Halloween Jam is back. All
our welcome on the 31st of October for more fancy dress carnage prizes up
for grabs from Creature, Duffs, Independent and Trucker. A fiver a ticket
available now from the rom counter more on the door. Jam starts at 6pm.

While the rest of the under 5's were
getting over jetlag and Jimmy the bleacher was up to no good (allegedly).
James (who has an uncanny likeness to a young Howard Moon, although he
swears blind that they are not related) via the power of the I-pod he put
himself in a Jazz trance and had a go at locking down some of his newly
acquired tricks from Rom pool at the concrete creation that is Saffron
Walden.

Work has started in ernest to complete the Rom Town
Chronicles. Here is a little teaser with footage from an Interview with the
legend that is Lance Mountain filmed by are man down under Nick sable.
Its coming......soon................well when we pull are
fingers out!
Another Saturday at Saffron this time the Under 5's were
not in attendance probably secretly working on another new bag of tricks.
Those in attendance got the job done...Eventually
If you haven’t been
to skate this place yet, I suggest you do so ASAP. Dreamland the makers of
this park know how to get the drainage right so what does that tell you. If
they pay that much attention to making sure that the park dries as quickly
as possible then when it comes to building real skate parks…..need I say
more. The Dreamland secret recipe, just check the concrete finish compared
to other concrete parks in the uk. It is a good job they design skate parks
so well because we had to sit out the rain to get our skate on. Some of the
Under 5's were in attendance with the other Rom Locals. When it was dry this

looking s*%t. We had some hot, hot sun to warm the bones for the 3rd
concrete carnage skate jam.
Plate smashing one quarter of the future of rom skate park
Mr Andrew Marco has a front side air. Probably the biggest front side air I
have ever seen in rom pool. He can also slam with the best of them.
If you haven't been to the Basque country I suggest you
get yourself and a few friends together and plan a trip. Most of the Rom
locals and friends did just that. I want to go back very very soon.
Sometimes when you go away and when you come back,
everything has an anti climax. It's like holiday blues or when that biscuit
falls off into your cuppa. That's what makes going away so special in the
first place.
Sometimes you come back and you remember just why it is
that you keep coming back to a place like The Rom.
Pedro Castro and Mr Adam Howe stopped by the Rom to have
some fun recently. Pedge put down a silky back lipper (paul your's next)
while Adam decided to hit out with a big f-side heeler (Pop's inspiration
for your kflip indy bro). To finish things off Adam get's all disco on yo ass! Worth the
flatspots!
The indoor ramp at Rom has had a few sheets of ply
attached, the coping raised and extensions to boot. It has set things up for
the cold winter days and night's ahead. Andrew Marco is getting close to
sticking a kickflip Indy on it, keep going son I hope to be showing his
first lander on here soon. A good old fashion session went down finishing
with a game of skate featuring Pops, Bubba, Dave Watson and Si Skipp. Si
decided to let the new transitions know they are in for a hammering
throughout this winter by throwing down lines like this. Rap Up!
A weekend visit back to the place I grew (got dragged) up
in and around, spending most of my childhood after being born in the south
and then returning many years later. My Mum still lives just outside Leeds
the home of the
works
skatepark.
They have just finished building a wooden pool with pool
coping...Need I say more. Get oop there!
Freaks come out at night. The Freaks come out at
night. Freaks come out !
A big turn out for a cold Tuesday night with all the
familiar faces and a few new ones. A good night had by all I think.

Following on from Nigel Davies being
caught in the crossfire for trick of the week, here is the same line in
the twilight zone with a font side D to finish..Go on Nige what's next ??
We had some very welcome guests on Sunday Navarrette, Hitz, Partanen, Alex
Horn, Gravette, Ponts, Stu Graham and Div Adams. Straight into a session
after a long flight, food poisoning and lost luggage (Partanen in his
slippers and borrowed board)(Navarrette with some dodgy plane food) they got
stuck into beers from the bus
and we got the bbq fired up. Beast!
Summer evenings at the rom can be special and this week was no exception.
The usual beer and chat with a big Al burger thrown in from the bbq and a
birthday to celebrate. Mr Nigel Davies decided to lid up and take on the
pool something we hope to see more of in the future.
What a session. The pool got the treatment it so deserved and there was a lot of faces old and new who killed the place. The weather was hot and I think everyone who attended would agree that we should do it more often. We
don't want to over kill it but maybe change the format to a comp style 15 second runs....I
don't know. The one thing I do know is that these sessions are legendary.
